Free cooling (summer night cooling), cooling protection and enforced cooling (machine cooling) for ventilation systems. All 3 functions are only active if the system is outside of normal operating times. This information comes from the system switch and prevents the activation of one of the following functions during operation by adverse setting.
Cooling protection/Frost prevention
This function prevents a too strong cooling of rooms during long downtimes of ventilation systems (e.g. in winter holidays). The cooling protection has the highest priority of all 3 functions.
Starting conditions:
- Preselection Auto (St1/St2/St3)
- And room temperature of smaller starting limit value

Switch-off conditions:
- Preselection Off
- Or preselection Auto
- And ambient temperature of larger switch-off limit value
Free cooling/summer night cooling
In balmy summer nights, the ventilation can cool the rooms in favourable weather conditions, in which the cool outside air is blown in without after-treatment (preheater, cooler, etc., remain turned off). This saves costs as machine cooling is not required.
Starting conditions:
- Preselection Auto (St1/St2/St3)
- And outside air temperature greater than minimum temperature
- And actual value of ambient temperature is greater than outside air temperature + hysteresis On
- And actual value of ambient temperature is greater than set point of room set point + hysteresis On
Switch-off conditions:
- Preselection Off
- Or outside air temperature of smaller minimum temperature
- Or actual value of ambient temperature is smaller than outside air temperature + hysteresis Off
- Or actual value of ambient temperature = Set point of ambient temperature
Enforced cooling/Machine cooling
This function comes into action if the ambient temperature is too high and a summer night cooling is not possible by a too high outside air temperature.
Starting conditions:
- Preselection Auto (St1/St2/St3)
- And actual vallue of ambient temperature is greater than set point of ambient temperature + starting hysteresis
Switch-off conditions:
- Preselection Off
- Or preselection Auto
- And ambient temperature is smaller than set point of ambient temperature + switch-off hysteresis
