The Saia PCD Web Panel Configurator makes it quick and easy to configure Saia PCD Web panels. Configuration follows these simple logical steps:
1 General | |
2 Display | |
3 Keyboard | |
4 Network | |
5 Web visualisation | |
5.1 MicroBrowser | |
5.2 Applet Viewer | |
5.3 Internet Explorer | |
6 Saia.Net Web-Connect | |
7 S-Energy | |
8 VNC |
Each step in the configuration process is assigned its own tab. Configuration can therefore be done simply by progressing through the tabs from left to right.
Overview
The Saia PCD Web Panel Configurator is divided into two halves. On the left-hand side, all settings can be modifiied via the tabs. On the right is the Help browser with more detailed information.
Context-sensitive Help
All the settings dialog boxes have a help button "?". When the "?" button is pressed, the help browser displays additional information about the selected setting.
Language selection
Pressing the flag image changes the language of the Saia PCD Web Panel Configurator.
Buttons to apply the settings or exit the configurator
In the bottom right-hand corner of the configurator are the buttons "Apply", "Exit" and "Cancel"..
Changing settings does not directly configure the panel. No settings will apply unless the "Apply" or "Exit" button has been pressed. The "Cancel" button closes the configurator without applying the settings.
The Saia PCD Web Panel Configurator saves the settings in the Windows Registry and creates a batch file in the Web Panel's autostart directory (\StorageCard\StartUp\WebPanelConfig.bat). To permanently save all the settings it is necessary to re-boot the Web Panel.
Confirm the message with "Yes" to re-boot the Web panel.
When the checkbox is ticked, the Saia PCD Web Panel Configurator starts automatically every time the panel is booted. Once the panel has been configured, this function should be deactivated.
Version
overview provides information about the Windows CE image version and
further installed applications like Micro-Browser, Saia.Net, etc.
Clicking on the button opens a window form, which lists all
applications and versions. Especially in case the Saia PCD Support is
contacted, you should have this information at hand.
Version
overview is generated once each time the Web Panel Configurator is
loaded. In case applications are updated or new ones are installed
during the Web Panel Configurator is running, the version information
will not show the newly installed versions. Please reboot the Web Panel
Configurator in order to generate the latest version overview.
If the precision of the touch screen is reduced, i.e. the mouse cursor no longer eactly follows the touch movement, calibration is required (as a rule, after powering up the Web panel for the first time, or after long-term use). Touch screen calibration is started by pressing the "Calibration" button. Red markers are displayed on the screen. Touch the screen exactly in the centre of each active mark. This process is repeated several times. At the end of the procedure, you can either apply the calibration with the "Accept" button, or reject it with "Cancel".
Note:
Always use a stylus, particularly when calibrating the screen.
The display can be rotated in all four directions in 90° increments. The means that the Web panel can be mounted sideways, for example. When the "Rotate" button is pressed, the preferred display angle can be selected.
Note:
The touch screen should be re-calibrated if the rotation is changed.
The Web Panel has an option to switch off the backlight automatically if there is no user action within a specified time. This prolongs the life of the display's backlight. After checking the automatic switch-off option, the time until the backlight is switched off can be selected in minutes (1 to 100 minutes)l.
An on-screen keyboard is available for entry of text and numbers in edit fields. The on-screen keyboard is activated via an icon on the task bar. Four different keyboard layouts are available. The "On-screen keyboard" setting defines the default layout:
Your Web Panel has two Ethernet interfaces that can be configured and operated independently. Please note the interface names: LAN1 and LAN2. The connectors are shown by the sticker on the CPU casing.
For the minimal connection between the panel and the PCD, just configure the IP address and subnet mask. If Internet access is required, it is also necessary to enter the default gateway and DNS server.
DHCP/Fixed IP address
IP
addresses can be fixed or automatically assigned. If automatic
assignment is used, the Web Panel contacts a DHCP server (must be
present on the network) and obtains an IP address, subnet mask, default
gateway and DNS server from the DHCP server. Manual entry is not
necessary for DHCP, so the entry fields for these addresses are
disabled.
For fixed assignment of the IP address, it is necessary
to fill in the IP address, subnet mask, default gateway and DNS server
fields. If you don't know the necessary information, ask your network
administrator.
IP address
The
IP addres defines a unique station on the network. Enter the IP address
of the Web Panel. The same IP address can only be used once on a
network.
Subnet mask
The
subnet mask specifies which part of the IP address should be
interpreted as the network address. Devices can only communicate in one
network (same network address).
Default gateway
If
the Web Panel cannot find an IP address on its own network, it forwards
the request to the default gateway. This is usually a router (or a
modem with router function) which, for example, also provides the
Internet connection.
DNS server
Basically,
all Internet network traffic uses IP addresses. Because people find it
difficult to distiguish between IP addresses, the Domain Name
System (DNS) was introduced. With the help of DNS, meaningful
names are assigned to IP addresses (e.g. www.saia-pcd.com). A DNS
server translates the meaningful names into the correct IP addresses.
In the DNS server 1 and 2 fields, enter the IP address of the DNS
servers that the Web Panel should contact to translate the DNS name.
For visualisation, the Web panel has three browsers installed:
Start web visualisation with Windows
The
web visualiser starts automatically when the Web Panel is started.
Activate this feature if the Web panel is to be used exclusively for
the display of web visualisation and the user is to have no access to
the panel's operating system.
Web visualisation start page
Enter the URL for the web visualisation start page here.
Syntax/Example:
http://<IP_or_DNS_name_of_controller>/<Start_page_of_web_visualisation>
Browser
Select which browser to use for displaying web visualisation.
When the browser has been selected, a new browser-specific tab appears in which further browser-specific settings can be defined.
Start browser delayed
Particularly
with connections (stations) via Saia.Net Web-Connect, when the Web
Panel boots up, the browser may already have called the web
visualisation before the connection has been established by
Web-Connect. The browser cannot then find the start page and cancels
the load procedure. To avoid this, browser start-up can be delayed.
After activation of the delay, a waiting time can be selected between 1
and 60 seconds. This delay is not only dependent on the Web Panel's
boot behaviour, but is also influenced by traffic in the connected
network.
Note:
This tab only appears if MicroBrowser has been selected as the browser under the "Web-Visu" tab.
Display mode
The MicroBrowser supports five display modes:
Activate task bar
The
task bar overlies web visualisation. The user has access to the Windows
CE operating system. If the user is only supposed to be able to operate
web visualisation, this function should be deactivated.
Hide task bar
The task bar is hidden if not used. Tapping the lower margin of the display will reinstate it visually.
No URL request on start-up
In
the default setting, at every start-up the MicroBrowser will request
the web visualisation start page. Selecting this function will suppress
this request, so that the MicroBrowser starts at the last selected
start page/web visualisation.
Use Windows keyboard
The predefined Windows CE screen keyboard is used to enter text or numbers (edit fields) (see "3 Keyboard"). If this function is not selected, the MicroBrowser will try to open the TEQ files "keypad.teq" for any keyboard entries.
Cache memory for picture/graphics files
Picture
and graphics files can be integrated into web visuals and may be some
kBytes in size. Loading by the Web-Server will take correspondingly
longer. The MicroBrowser therefore tries to keep previously loaded
picture and graphics files in memory to avoid loading by the Web-Server
when they are requested again. The amount of memory available for this
purpose can be adjusted with this setting.
Loading message
The
loading process for a comprehensive visualisation page may take a long
time. However, in order to provide the user with immediate
acknowledgment, it is possible to overlay a loading message. This
appears at the beginning of a page change and only disappears once all
objects have been built on the new page. The loading message is fully
user configurable. When the "Loading message" button is pressed, a
special configuration window is displayed.
Warnings
If
faults occur during operation (e.g. communications problems or
visualisation pages are not found) the MicroBrowser can superimpose a
button. When the button is pressed and info page will be displayed with
more details. The format of the button can be modified. Press the
"Warnings" button to display a special configuration window.
Note:
This tab only appears if Applet Viewer has been selected as the browser under the "Web-Visu" tab.
Display mode
Applet Viewer supports two display modes:
Activate task bar
The
task bar overlies web visualisation. The user has access to the Windows
CE operating system. If the user is only supposed to be able to operate
web visualisation, this function should be deactivated.
Hide task bar
The task bar is hidden if not used. Tapping the lower margin of the display will reinstate it visually.
Anti-aliasing
Anti-aliasing
can be used to smooth the display of text in web visualisation. It
smoothes the edges of letters and numbers. The effect can be adjusted
for different strengths: 1 means no anti-aliasing, 5 is the effect at
its strongest.
Note:
This tab only appears if Internet Explorer has been selected as the browser under the "Web-Visu" tab.
Display mode
Internet Explorer supports two display modes:
Activate task bar
The
task bar overlies web visualisation. The user has access to the Windows
CE operating system. If the user is only supposed to be able to operate
web visualisation, this function should be deactivated.
Hide task bar
The task bar is hidden if not used. Tapping the lower margin of the display will reinstate it visually.
Saia.Net Web-Connect can be used for communication with Saia PCD controllers.
Note:
If
Saia.Net Web-Connect is used for communication with Saia PCD
controllers, ensure that Saia.Net Web-Connect is fully initialized and
running when the controller is accessed for the first via a browser.
Please consult the section: "Start browser delayed".
For more information about Saia.Net, see "\StorageCard\Saia.Net\Documentation\Saia.Net - Help.pdf".
On the Web Panel the S-Energy Logger Runtime is installed. Using the S-Energy Logger, energy data can be captured from S-Bus enabled energy meters, displayed on the panel in the shape of a web visualisation and finally sent to SQL servers. The complete function is configured by the S-Energy Logger Administrator; the SW tool runs on PCs with Windows XP/Vista/7 and creates a configuration file. The configuration file has to be copied to Web Panel; best practice is by means of a USB memory stick or using a FTP client. All further settings can be accomplished with the Web Panel Configurator. For further information about functionality and configuration of the S-Energy Logger, please refer to the manual "Saia S-Energy Logger", document number 26/880. In addition a tutorial video is available at YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qnNaVvlsu5Y).
A first setup is made following 4 steps:
Configurations file
Specify
path and name of the S-Energy Logger Runtime’ configurations file. The
Browse button allows a comfortable navigation to the file. The
configurations file is generated by means of the S-Energy Logger
Administrator (see 7 S-Energy).
Status messages
The S-Energy Logger Runtime shows ongoing activities in a status window. The messages’ level of detail can be adjusted.
S-Energy Logger web visualisation
Energy meter status and read values can be displayed via a preinstalled web visualisation.
Caution:
The
S-Energy web visualisation requires Saia.Net Web-Connect to run. That’s
why, selecting S-Energy web visualisation automatically activates
Saia.Net. The web visualisation is stored in the Web-Connect station
"SEnergyLogger" – don’t delete this station.
VNC lets you operate your Web Panel remotely from another PC. This is done by establishing a remote desktop connection and displaying the Web Panel desktop in a window on the PC. In this way, control operations can be executed on the Web Panel from the PC. Access is accomplished by a preinstalled VNC server. With the default setup, accessing the Web Panel requires a password. The default password is "admin".
On the PC side, a VNC viewer is necessary. There are several types of VNC viewer that can be downloaded from internet free-of-charge.
Web sites for those interested in VNC:
VNC client port
Port
number for VNC communication in case a VNC client is used. The default
value is 5900 and complies with the default setting of most VNC
clients. In case there are routers or firewalls in the communication
path, please make sure, this port is forwarded and not blocked.
VNC web access port (Java)
A
VNC connection can also be established without a VNC client only using
a standard browser with installed Java Virtual Machine. Access is
accomplished with the URL http://<IP or DNS name Web
Panel>:<Port VNC web access>. The port number for VNC
communication by using a standard browser with Java can be specified
here. Default value is 5800. In case there are routers or firewalls in
the communication path, please make sure, this port is forwarded and
not blocked.
Password read-only
Password
for read-only VNC access. Establishing a VNC connection using this
password, the Web Panels‘ screen is only displayed. Operating with
mouse or keyboard is not possible.
Password full access
Password
for unrestricted VNC access. Establishing a VNC connection using this
password, the Web Panels‘ screen is displayed and in addition operating
with mouse or keyboard is possible.
Start VNC
Clicking
the button Start VNC launches the VNC server immediately. This is
useful to test changes in the VNC configuration without a
time-consuming reboot of the panel.
